Say It A'int So. . . .

It's been well over a year since I have posted on this blog - odd considering all that we have been through over the last 13 months. We had an election, insurrection, and increased infection in spite of vaccination being available to the nation. That all sounds so very "Hamilton" doesn't it? One day there will likely be movies and/or Broadway plays about this chapter in our history and hopefully audiences will wonder what the hell was wrong with people. I say hopefully because the alternative is that audiences will resemble those in the 30's and 40's that viewed Nazi propaganda films. Anyway, recent developments bring me back to the keyboard as indications are that Donald Trump will run for President in 2024, and given the widespread push to curb voting rights, I fear he could win. So, I have penned this letter to those on the right side of the political aisle (assuming those unvaccinated folks are still alive in November 2024). Dear Republicans, Conservatives, Fascists, and White Supremacists: Please find a better candidate. Find one skilled in governance; one who is honest, forthright, and possessing character and integrity. Find one who possesses tact, diplomacy, and empathy. Find one more concerned with others than with himself and his cronies. Find one who trusts scientists and experts instead of his misinformed instincts. Find one without multitudes of red flags (bankruptcies, frauds, foreign influence, lack of transparency). Find one who puts skilled individuals in key positions rather than his friends and family. Find one without 20+ credible accusations of sexual impropriety. Find a decent human being, not one whose actions and utterances are cringeworthy. I realize you have to gerrymander the hell out of districts in order to win elections, but consider changing your party platforms in order to appeal to a wider base of Americans - Americans who are Caucasian, African, Asian, and Latino; Americans who are rich, middle class, and poor; Americans who are native born as well as immigrants; Americans who are heterosexual and who are part of the LGBTQ community; Americans who are disabled as well as those without physical or mental impairment. C'mon righties - find a principled candidate who cares about people. Find a Democrat who straddles the middle and call him or her a Republican. Thanks. I'll be watching.
