We Had Joy, We Had Fun, We Had Treason in Finland

"Goodbye to you my trusted friend".

So begins "Seasons in the Sun", the 1974 hit single from Terry Jacks. After today's performance by Donald Trump in Helsinki, it seems a prophetic send-off to the United States as a leader among democracies. This sad reality hit me today as the President of the United States stood side-by-side with the Russian president; an autocratic, ruthless, imperialistic ex-KGB agent who jails and kills dissidents; and cast doubt on the U.S. intelligence community's unanimous conclusion regarding state-sponsored Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump deemed the Mueller probe to be a "disaster for our country" and noted that Putin was "extremely strong and powerful in his denial today". As a reminder, the Special Counsel has returned 35 indictments and 5 guilty pleas. Of those indictments, 26 are Russian citizens, 3 are Russian organizations, and 4 were members of Trump's campaign team including Paul Manafort, his campaign manager. The President's subservience to Putin and his denials of the obvious Russian interference are shameful, disgusting, and treasonous. In a bygone era, his defense of the Russian president would have been political suicide. However, we seem to live in an alternate reality where the European Union is a "foe" while ruthless dictators are "honorable"; white supremacists are “very good people” and immigrants are “animals”. The so-called leader of the free world is actually a follower of Vladimir Putin and other despotic rulers. The only fake news is the ludicrous notion that he is making America great again. On the contrary, Trump's presidency is the greatest challenge to our republic since the Civil War. My only hope is that Americans awaken from this fog of false patriotism and recognize that Trump does not serve their interests – he only serves his own.

Trumper Cables – A blog to jolt you into logical thought

WARNING: If you are a Trump Supporter, this will challenge your pre-conceived notions that somehow Donald J. Trump represents the best interests of the United States. Read with an open mind. You might actually see my point. DISCLAIMER: All opinions on this blog are my own and quite obviously do not reflect the opinions of the Donald J. Trump supporters who swallow every lie he tells, overlook his obvious corruption – Russiagate, Ukrainegate, Pornstargate, TrumpFoundationgate, TrumpUniversitygate, AllHisAssociatesIndictedAndInJailgate, EmolumentsClausegate, etc., etc., ad nauseum - have no problem with the sham impeachment trial being held in the U.S. Senate, and somehow believe Mitch McConnell, William Barr, Mike Pompeo, Lindsey Graham, Kevin McCarthy, Devin Nunes, et al have the best interests of the United States at heart. RANDOM THOUGHTS Please pardon the disjointed nature of this blog. My goal is not flowery prose, but rather to get myriad thoughts on pap...

There Are Two Ways To Be Happy:

Improve your reality, or lower your expectations. (Jodi Picoult) From the reality of the past three plus years, it is obvious that somewhere between 35% and 40% of our population have chosen significantly lower expectations. That is a sad commentary on our current state of affairs. To the Donald Trump Loyalists, If you did not care that Trump: Paid off mistresses Wished a child sex trafficker "well" Extorted Ukraine for political gain Welcomed Russian interference in the election Accepted Putin's word over our intelligence community Called white supremacists "very fine people" Did not challenge Russia on bounties paid to kill Americans Stocked his campaign staff with criminals Commuted the sentence of Roger Stone Insulted a Gold Star family Insulted John McCain's military service while he sat out Vietnam with "bone spurs" Resorts to childish name-calling to insult myriad others on Twitter Was fined $25 million for his fraudulent Trump Universit...

Say It A'int So. . . .

It's been well over a year since I have posted on this blog - odd considering all that we have been through over the last 13 months. We had an election, insurrection, and increased infection in spite of vaccination being available to the nation. That all sounds so very "Hamilton" doesn't it? One day there will likely be movies and/or Broadway plays about this chapter in our history and hopefully audiences will wonder what the hell was wrong with people. I say hopefully because the alternative is that audiences will resemble those in the 30's and 40's that viewed Nazi propaganda films. Anyway, recent developments bring me back to the keyboard as indications are that Donald Trump will run for President in 2024, and given the widespread push to curb voting rights, I fear he could win. So, I have penned this letter to those on the right side of the political aisle (assuming those unvaccinated folks are still alive in November 2024). Dear Republicans, Conservat...
